These books are all great for phonemic awareness, especially for rhyme and alliteration.


* After reading this book make a list of all the rhyming words found in the book. You might even want the kids to note that same rhyming words end the same, but others do not.
* Have each child fold a piece of paper in half. On one half, ask them to draw a picture of what the jeep looks like at the beginning of the book. On the other half, ask them to draw what the jeep looked like at the end of the story. They could also write a phrase or a sentence to describe the jeep.


* Discuss the things that you would need to prepare for a birthday party.

* As a class, make a list of rhyming words found in the story.
* List things that the sheep shouldn't have done at the table. Talk about good table manners.
* As a class, make a list of food that would not taste good together.



*Compare and contrast these books as a class.

Word family:
-eep: sheep, jeep, beep, peep, deep, keep, weep, sleep, steep, etc.

Make a sheep using a paper plate and some cotton balls. Draw a pattern for eyes, ears, nose, and mouth for the children to use.
