原載《打開》第20期,1999年6月3日 The loud blokes(外一篇) 葉蔭聰 Why are the loud-hailers known as "loud blokes", and not "loud chicks"? Why must they be "blokes"? It seems reasonable. Probably most of the people with loud-hailers in their hands in protests are males. Also, the loudest of them are always in the hands of "blokes", not "chicks". It is the voice of "blokes" such as Szeto Wah and Cheung Man-kwong the come through the loud-hailers chanting "Remember June 4" and "Overturn the Verdict of June 4". One seldom hears voices of "chicks". Fortunately, there are very often a bunch of uncooperative kids walking somewhere behind the leading "loud blokes". Quite a number of them are indeed "loud chicks".
