| Fairytale Whatever happened to once upon a time? Where are the Prince Charmings I knew When maidens were won with a song and a rhyme And heroes were noble and true? Its always the job of the innocent and brave To point out the Emperors naked, When beauty and virtue are still there to save And love is a thing not forsaken. In my dreams there exist times and places Where truth and freedom reign. But in live we all have so many faces That dreams are all shadows again. And so Ill escape to that fairytale world Shield myself from realitys sight Retreat to the land where my fantasies swirled Into visions of hope and delight. |
| Another poem written at CTY, but not about CTY. This was written during first session 2002. Inspired by Bo Wilson, the most stupendous teacher I've encountered at Carlisle. And he taught the best class. I can't for the life of me remember why he said it, but during Playwrighting class he said, "Whatever happened to once upon a time?" I couldn't resist writing something about that. Bo said so many amazing things, I'll have to devote a page on this site to Bo-isms. But till then, here's "Fairytale", dedicated to Bo. It rhymes and it's old-fashioned, but that's sort of why I like it. |
