Donna Moore |
Donna Moore grew up in Alpine, in the Big Bend Region of Texas. She began
her interest in sculpting and working with clay while attending Sul Ross
State University. She later relocated with her husband and three boys to
the Austin, Texas area where her interest in dolls began. As a beginning
collector, she attended many of the local doll shows. This is where she met
Marilynn Huston and was so taken with the beauty and creativity of her dolls
on display, immediately enrolled in one of her workshops. This literally
changed her life. Her first doll "Mother of Braves" was created at this workshop.
Donna began with full-skirted figures then moved on to complete mixed media
doll sculptures, both standing and seated. She has done over 30 dolls, each
one-of-a-kind doll is sculpted in polymer clay with meticulous attention
to detail. Her best known works are her "Old World Santas". She loves showing
the love and the "wise beyond years" look in their faces. The excitement
of seeing the doll come to life and take on their own character is beyond
words. Finding just the right finishing touches for each one is the challenging
part, but also the most fun. Donna's studio is in her home in Cedar Park,
Texas. She has shown and sold many of her dolls in the Austin and Georgetown
area.
