2004 Community Project

For our 2004 community project we made pancake dolls for Travis County Children's Advocacy Center. The Travis County Children's Advocacy Center provides a homelike, child-centered environment where children who have reported abuse and their protective caregivers can go for evaluation, crisis intervention, evidence gathering, and counseling. The pancake dolls will be given to the children to provide a new loving friend and lessen the trauma.

Members of CTAD met 3 to 4 times over the summer and fall to work on the dolls as a group project. We shared fabrics and trims with each other. Mary Anne Milder supplied most of the skin colored fabrics. Marilynn Huston made a lot of the dresses and underwear to be distributed to those who just wanted to dress the doll. Carolyn Mabarak and Donna Moore painted a lot of the faces and made pretty coiffures Other members providing work of love are Yoanna Baumgartner, Christine Haskell, Julie Mayton, Marilyn Pulliam, Teresa Purkeypile, and Pat Spain

Below are the completed dolls, 75 in all! They were delivered to the Childrens Advocacy Center the first Saturday in December.
