INTERPRETING SERVICES
There are different interpreting techniques:
Done from a booth, requires headphones, microphone and two interpreters. The interpreter speaks as the speaker does, without pausing. This type of total concentration requires such effort that the most an interpreter can do is about 30 minutes' worth of translation. That is way it is necessary to have at least two interpreters for each language pair.
Requires only one interpreter. Consecutive translation is the technique used during a meeting where the translator takes notes on a pad while the speaker talks. Once the speaker pauses, the interpreter repeats what has been said, not word for word, nor summarizing, but in detail, in the required language.
