That Day I saw the Tri-City Valley Cats play the Vermont Expos on July 5, 2002. In the 1st, Troy SS Andy Topham walked, stole second and scored on LF Brandon Macchis single. The Expos tied it in the 2nd on a solo home run by 1B Seth Johnson and took the lead in the 3rd on a 2-run shot by 2B Jason Conlisk. Topham hit a sacrifice fly in the 5th to drive in 2B Jjallil (thats not a typo) Sandoval, who had singled. Troy tied it in the 7th on a single by catcher Jeff Mackor, and a triple by CF Robinson Cespedes, scoring PR Jake Whitesides. Troy went ahead in the 8th after 1B Andy Salmela singled and went to third on two Vermont errors on the play, and scored on 3B Ryan Larsons single. Pitcher Jared Gothreaux struck out the side in the 9th to give the home team the win, 4-3. |
