| The Park Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium is the home of the South Bend Silver Hawks, the Midwest League (Single A) affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The team is named after a Studebaker model that was manufactured in town. I forgot to pack my camera on this trip. I used a disposable one, but the pictures I have are poor quality. As a result, I dont have much I can tell you about this park. |
| That Day What I do recall was that there was some promotion, so tickets were only $1.00. Because of this, it was jammed. I also recall being surprised by the number of fans who were being noisy and rowdy, but not in response to the game. I guess I cant blame them too much, considering how the home team played. The Silver Hawks played the Michigan Battle Cats, a Houston Astros affiliate, on August 28, 2000. Michigan won, 11-5, scoring 4 in the 1st, 1 in the 2nd, 2 in the 4th and 3 in the 5th. South Bends left fielder Doug Devore hit a 3-run blast in the 4th, to make it 7-3, but with Michigan getting those runs back the next inning, the fans lost what little interest they had. It didnt help that South Bend made 5 errors, leading to 5 unearned runs. |
