The Park
The New Jersey Jackals play in Yogi Berra Stadium on the campus of Montclair State University.  Right outside the entrance is the Yogi Berra Museum.  Yogi, who lives in Montclair, makes occasional appearances at the park.  He threw out the first pitch at the Northern Leagues All-Star Game, which was played here in 2000.

There are a few things I like about this parks unique layout.  First, theres the great view of most of the ballpark from right outside the entrance gate, which is behind home and above the stands and field.  Second, theres the wide concourse, particularly behind home.  Finally, theres the expansive real estate that wraps around the field from past the wall in right center to behind the stands in right.  Unlike most parks, in which foul balls behind home and over the net often go over the stands and into the parking lot, here they often land on the steps leading down from the entrance and bounce around the concourse before being grabbed by a quick kid or an aggressive adult.
The Games
1) June 15, 1999, with my son and his baseball team.  I didnt keep score.

2) On August 1, 2000, we (my son and I and our friends, both father and son) attended the Northern League All-Star Game.  The East won, 10-5, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the 2nd.  Game MVP John Mueller of the Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs started the scoring with a 2-run homer.  He drove in another run in the 8th with a single.  For the Central, J.P. Fauske and former major leaguer Wes Chamberlain homered, and Hal Lanier managed.

3) On May 17, 2002, I saw the Jackals play an exhibition game against the Allentown Ambassadors.  It was tied 1-1 after the 2nd, then things got out of hand.  The Jackals scored 5 in the 3rd, to take a 6-3 lead.  Allentown came back with 6 in the 4th.  After 5 innings, it was 9-9.  Allentown took the game, 15-9, with 3B Keith Maxwell going 5 for 5 with 3 singles, a double, home run, 3 RBI and 2 runs.  Although hitless, Allentown leadoff hitter Bernard Caston scored 3 runs on 3 walks.
