The Park Riverside Stadium is home to the Harrisburg Senators, the Double A affiliate of the Montreal Expos in the Eastern League. The ballpark is on an island in the Susquehanna River. Theres parking on the island, but for a change of pace, fans can park on the mainland and walk to the island on a pedestrian bridge.
The stands have a unique layout, which I liked, despite what youre about to read. Our seats were on the aisle in the first row of section 102. Looking at a stadium diagram, I assumed they were in the row right behind the dugout, on the side where the players go in and out when they go to bat. They were in the first row, but the dugout is under section 102, not on front of it. (Sections 101-111 are all above the dugouts.) Above the dugout is a railing, then an aisle maybe 7-10 feet wide, then the first row of section 102. The aisle was an attractive nuisance of sorts fans walking by often stopped for a quick look at the railing, blocking our view. The seats do offer a good view of the action, but not as good as I expected. Go for the box seats, if theyre available.
We encountered another problem a deluge of dead insects, dropping from the lights. Im not kidding it was a deluge. If we didnt have caps and light jackets, we would have moved. If you go to a night game in the summer, be prepared, or get sheltered seats. |
