| That Day On my July 5, 2002 visit I saw a game between the Rome Indians and the Schenectady Mohawks of the Northeastern Collegiate Baseball League. Rome scored in the top of the 1st, but made 3 errors and yielded 12 hits to Schenectady, as the Mohawks won, 5-1. The crowd was sparse - maybe 30 people, mostly family, girlfriends, and scouts, I would guess. I liked the fact that the announcer told the crowd each player's college as he came to bat. After this game, a 4:00 p.m. start, it was off to Troy for a 7:00 p.m. game. |

| The Park A nice country setting makes up for all the metal bleachers in Heritage Park. Once host to a Double A team, it is now home to the Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs of the independent Northern League. I was there for a college summer league game, and the stands were virtually empty, so maybe my opinion would differ in a crowd of several thousand, but this park had a nice feel to it. I particularly liked the grassy knoll behind the stands in left. |
