The charter date for the CT Minuteman Composite Squadron is 6 July, 1982, however, the history of the squadron can be traced back much farther.
In 1946, the Flying Knights Squadron was created at the Tweed-New Haven Airporton Cedar Street in New Haven. At that time, the Flying Knights also included the Civil Air Patrol Band. The band consisted of Civil Air Patrol members from Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island Wings as well as other wings in the area.
Around 1980, the Flying Knights Squadron combined with the CT Minuteman Cadet Squadron (Branford) to form the CT Minuteman Composite Squadron.
