| This is really a detail of the story about Charlie. So, if you haven't read that one yet, you should read it first. My step-father did not believe that any of the phenomena going on around our house was legit. He thought that we were either all making up stories or losing our minds. As I said, my parent's bedroom was off of the living room and had french doors. The established pattern had become that an item from my parent's room would end up in the kitchen at some point during the evening. We never saw anything "float" by, so we wondered how the spirit was getting the items into the kitchen without us seeing. My step-father became convinced that we were playing jokes on him. One night, right before one of our favorite T.V. shows came on, he took some rope and tied the french doors (to the master bedroom) shut. He then did a full inspection of the kitchen to make sure there was nothing ususual in there. Then he announced that if anyone had to go in the kitchen, we would all go together, so that nobody could plant any "gags" in there. We watched T.V. without any incidents for over an hour, then it was time for bed. We all went into the kitchen with the popcorn bowl and what-not, and nearly fainted when we saw what was in the kitchen sink. My mother had a round metal tin that was full of buttons. It was in the sink, the lid was off and the buttons were all over. The tin was kept in her bedroom on top of her sewing machine. My step-father nearly had a stroke when he saw those buttons. Believe it or not, he STILL claimed to be a skeptic after this incident, but only if confronted with the subject. He stopped bringing it up, and he stopped teasing me after this! The look on his face was priceless! |
