John Monro Watson, 75, who worked in the Central Intelligence Agency's directorate of administration from 1979 to 1992 and retired as contract executive manager, died Jan. 8 at Sibley Memorial Hospital. He had leukemia.

At the CIA, Mr. Watson was involved in the negotiation of contracts for goods and services.

Earlier in his career, he did contracting and purchasing work at the old Renegotiation Board, the independent office created to prevent profiteering on defense contracts, as well as the Defense Communications Agency, the D.C. government and Geico.

Mr. Watson, who was a native Washingtonian, was a 1947 graduate of Wilson High School and a 1951 graduate of the University of Virginia. He did graduate work in business administration at American University.

He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1956.

He was a member of Bethesda Country Club and founded the A.M. Cabin John Tennis and Yachting Club. He lived in Bethesda.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Constance O'Leary "Coni" Watson of Bethesda; a daughter, Paige Watson O'Connor of Bethesda; and a granddaughter.
