Easter

In Slovakia boys wet the girls with water and girls paint eggs for their boyfriends.

In Poland - egg painting and also on Sunday people go to the church at 6.Children get some sweets.

Italy-Paint egss,children break Easter eggs.Also people make easter trees.

Turkey- We don't have easter but in some private schools they also paint eggs but not for religious reasons.

Romania- 16th and 23rd of April they paint eggs in different colours, usually red, and they draw them with geometrical motifs, with wax. Everyone goes to church to attend the service and then there is the traditional family lunch, where they eat lamb specialities sortiments.

23rd April - On April 23rd Children from many countries who gather in Turkey give each other gifts. The United Nations participates and many people consider this a day of peace. Everybody wears their best clothes and shoes. The people (Children) who come to Turkey celebrate and even do performances such as: national anthems, folk dances and many other things that are related to their countries.There is no school on this day so children can enioy the day by going out and watch the shows.

Konstantin and Method´s  Day (Slovakia)

5th July-Konstantin and Metod were Greek scholars. We celebrate their coming  to our territory ( in 9th century). They spread ideas of Christianity and made the first translation of The Holly Bible into the language of old Slavs.

29th August

29th August - Slovak National Uprising started in 1944 during World War II.  Slovak people joined the fight against facizm

30th August (Turkey)

Independence Day-The day Turks got rid of invaders from their soil with victory.

The Constitution Day

1st Sep - The Constitution Day-Slovakia

Izmir’s Independence Day

 Izmir was invaded by Greek forces they were pushed away to Aegean Sea on the 9th September

 

 

15th Sep - St. Mary´s Day

St. Mary´s Day- Christian holiday. St. Mary is believed to be the patron of Slovakia

Ramadan MonthPeople fast for a month (don’t eat /drink until sunsets )- Turkey and all Islam world

24th Sept-23 Oct (These Dates change every year) People fast according to their beliefs. Not everybody fasts though . This month is followed by a festival to celebrate a long fasting and praying period.
