HEARTBEAT
Rainy Friday Outdoor Fellowship
By Kristine Solomon
Friday, August 22, 2003 – It was Ninoy Aquino’s death anniversary celebration but for the CTF people it's a celebration of a new beginning. Yes, a new beginning; it’s an act of faith and obedience to the Lord that helps you in the way – a water baptism.
Water baptism, where a person is baptized by immersion, symbolizes two things: according to Romans 6:(v1) It symbolizes Jesus death, burial and resurrection from dead; and (v2) it symbolizes that the believer has died with Christ and is now raised up to walk in success of life. It is an expression of moving from darkness to light, from death to life. Within which, do not think that water baptism is some kind of final act that will give you victory forever in your Christian Life. We must continue too grow in Christ and give our lives to Him everyday.
CTF’s water baptism was held at Hacienda Antipolo, Antipolo City. After the baptismal service, fun…fun…fun…begins!
On the same day, notwithstanding the rain and uncontrollable big crowd, CTF people still patiently wait just to witness how God moves as Steve Kuban, LaMar Boschman and Musikatha ministries set forth to raise the big dome’s roof and let God showers His blessing. The live praise and worship concert was held at Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City.

GIVING THANKS IN TOUGH TIMES
"May you always be joyful in your life in the Lord." Phil. 4:4 (GNB)
STEP ONE: WORRY ABOUT NOTHING!
"Do not be anxious about anything…" Phil. 4:6a (NIV) "Do not fret or have any anxiety…" (Amp)
The facts about worry:
"Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own." Matt. 6:34 (NIV)
Key: Live one day at a time
STEP TWO: PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING
"… but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Phil. 4:6b (NIV) "When you pray, tell God every detail of your needs." Phil 4:6b (Ph)
"Unload all your worries on Him since He is looking after you!" 1 Peter 5:7 (JB) "You can throw the whole weight of your anxieties upon Him, for you are His personal concern!" (Ph)
"… You do not have, because you do not ask God." James 4:2
Insight: No problem is too big or too small to pray about
STEP THREE: THANK GOD IN ALL THINGS
"… in everything (pray) … with thanksgiving…" Phil. 4:6b (NIV) "always asking Him with a thankful heart." (GNB)
"Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thess. 5:18 (NIV)
STEP FOUR: THINK ABOUT THE RIGHT THINGS
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true … noble… right… pure… lovely… admirable…. If anything is excellent or praiseworthy -- think about such things." Phil. 4:8 (NIV) "…fill your mind with those things…" (JB)
"As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." Pr. 23:7 (KJV)
The root cause of stress: the way you choose to think

Walk Your Talk
"Keep off the grass", "No U-Turn", etc. Simple guidelines, easy to say however, most often than not, hard to follow. "Seek first His kingdom and righteousness…", Do unto others what you want others do unto you" and the like. Again, simple guidelines, easy to say but most of the time frequently neglected. It is, frequently neglected…frequently taken for granted. Don’t you think there is something wrong?
Being "born again" is like hatching out of an egg. God has had a distinct purpose for you to fulfill on earth and in eternity. But you will never find and fulfill that wonderful pupose unless you grow as Chrstian. Yes, this is the problem, people knows the scripture but they don’t put it into action. Simply being hatched is not enough. We need to step our feet and spread our wings and learn to fly.
Jamie Buckingham did an acrostic on how to climb the mountain to spiritual maturity:
G – Go to God in prayer daily
R – Read God’s word daily
O – Obey God, moment by moment
W – Witness for Christ by yourlife and words
T – Trust God for every detail of your life
H – Holy Spirit – Allow God to control and empower you daily life
W – Witnessing for Christ is simply being who you are. It doesn’t mean that you need to preach. All it means is living for Jesus everyday so that not only your words tell of Christ, but your life reflects His life as well.

Mag-
Butch Felix, guest pastor last Sunday (August 31), In a survey 10% are Christian, 90% are unbelievers. With this, let us have burden to pray, to share, to be a witness, and give our time, talent, and treasure to win them to Christ (1 Jn. 3:16).
God gives us the boldness and wisdom to share the word of God. Thus, let us do our part. Let’s go out and start. Ask Ptr. Abet or me for help.
To God be the Glory!
