2005 A Year in Review

2005 turned out to be a great year for this Texas-based trio.  We were extremely busy and truly blessed this year and will try to give you some of the details here!

The highlight has to be our week in Hawaii.  Chuck qualified for President’s Club for 2004  sales and all three of us took full advantage and spent a wonderful week on Maui.  Zac learned to scuba dive and surf, Kate learned that volcanoes over 10,000 feet in elevation are best viewed from sea level and Chuck learned that it really does rain all the time in rain forests.

And while there is no question that Maui was the highlight of the year; the theme of 2005 has to be renovation.  We did a lot of work around our house this year (finally) and hope all of you can come visit us and see it all first-hand.  The deck is Chuck’s favorite.

We also managed a couple of weeks in Canada this year; our first trip back since moving to Texas in 2000.  It was great to be back and see everyone, eat decent pizza and roast chicken, drink a decent beer (or two) and escape the Texas heat.

Probably our low-point this year was Zac’s broken shoulder.  He managed to break it at Kung Fu a week before school started.  Needless to say he wasn’t able to play football this year but was able to participate as the team manager.

Kate:

Kate continued to look for balance in the yin and yang of life by exploring several facets.  Although content to live in the suburbs, she continues to spend most of her time in the inner-city, working at a youth and family center.  She is glad to have a foot in both worlds, yet the contrast is sometimes disarming.  Safe and secure in north Texas, she continues to dream of exotic travel.  She giggles that exotic may someday be defined as trailing voodoo daddy in a pick-up through Copper Canyon.  She feeds her worms and wishes she had chickens.  She rejoices in friendships old and new and in the continuing adventure of raising an adolescent, now known as “Man-Boy-Thing.”

Chuck:

Every year that comes and goes seem to do so with a greater degree of speed.  Wow!  I can’t believe 2005 is drawing to an end.  I certainly will count it as one of my best years.  I enjoyed another great year at work and as of this writing I am over quota and looking forward to President’s Club in Puerto Rico.  I continue to take guitar lessons and most recently have been butchering Eric Clapton’s Layla.

I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with my friend, Amir and my God Daughter Ellie this year.

My personal highlight goes by the name of Voodoo Daddy.

In October 2004, Zac and I spent the day at the International Motorcycle show and I entered a drawing for a motorcycle.  A couple of weeks ago they called to tell me that I had won the bike.  I should have it by Christmas!

Zac:

Zac completed 7th grade and started 8th grade this year; he is busily preparing for high school next year.  He continues to do well in school and should accrue high school credit for 2 classes.  Despite breaking his shoulder late this summer and missing the football season, he has enjoyed a good year making advancements in Kung Fu and Scouts.  He also continues to sing in our church youth choir.

His single biggest achievement has to be his Life Scout rank advancement!  He has only Eagle Scout to go and we’re very proud of him.

Joey & Kramer:

What can we say?  Bark, yip, growl.

Kramer, our ever-vigilant security pup, continues to worry about the rabbits and squirrels in our yard, and Joey continues to be completely unconcerned.
