This set of MS-DOS batch files generates PDFs of the Voynich Manuscript
for batch printing.

Once you have done the setup described below, just type at the prompt:

vms

and the scripts will generate PDFs of the whole VMs for batch printing!

THE VOYNICH MANUSCRIPT

If you are not familiar with the VMs, here is a mini-FAQ:

http://www.geocities.com/ctesibos/voynich/voymfq.htm

and Wikipedia's article on the VMs is also informative:

PROGRAMS NEEDED

To run these scripts, you must have the following:

ImageMagick, available at:
http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php

Version 6.4.2 was used in the development of these scripts.

LizardTech's mrsidgeodecode, to change MrSID files to TIF files; available at:
http://www.lizardtech.com/download/dl_options.php?page=tools

** NOTE: Remember to rename mrsidgeodecode_Win.exe to mrsidgeodecode.exe!!!!! **

pdfconcat, to combine PDFs of individual pages, available at
http://www.geocities.com/ctesibos/voynich/hiq/

There must be paths set to these utilities from the directory where the VMs
files are, as well as paths to the scripts themselves.

VOYNICH MANUSCRIPT FILES

Of course, you must have the files of the VMs! Instructions on
retrieving them are available at:

http://www.geocities.com/ctesibos/voynich/hiq/

You must retrieve them and rename them to the folio names customarily used
in study of the VMs, using the scripts available on the site above.

For some folios and foldouts, the source file for the PDF had to be manually
cropped, rescaled, and in many cases combined from other files. GIMP was used to do
this. Here is a list of the TIFF files resulting:

I plan to make these files available on the Internet in a
compressed form in the not-too-distant future.

FUTURE PLANS

These scripts are by no means the last word! I am currently writing
scripts to give results nearer to publication quality.
