Lizardtech has what it claims is a MrSID viewer for Linux at

but it immediately dumps when I try running it.

Why in the world would they use a proprietary format?  Can't they
get good enough lossless compression with PNG or something?

It executes here (glibc 2.3.3), but I don't have a MrSID file to test it.
Do you have a link to the file?

Also the options are not very obvious:

BTW, LizardTech also released (IIRC) a Java viewer for MrSID files, which
should work fine under Linux (if somewhat slower). Might be worth trying to
dig up, though.

I searched from http://beinecke.library.yale.edu/brbldl/ with
"voynich", jumped to page 11, then clicked on the "zoom" button for the
back page.

I'm on glibc 2.3.2.  I guess it makes a difference.  Sigh.

For those of you on a *nix (Lynix, Unix, etc) system, you can use this list
to do the following:

1.  Copy and past them into a file (well call it list.txt).
2.  Open up a console.
3.  Use the "cd" command to move to the directory containing the file
(list.txt)
4.  Type "wget -i list.txt"

That will tell wget to download each file listed in the file list.txt
