Central Texas Basket Guild By-Laws

Mission

<>The purpose of this guild shall be to stimulate interest in and perpetuate the art of basketry.

Officers/Executive Committee

The officers shall be a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Newsletter/Communications Editor, and Hospitality Coordinator. These officers shall be known as the Executive Committee. The President shall preside over meetings, form committees as needed, and assist with program organization and presentation. The Vice-President shall act as site-coordinator (responsible for locating monthly meeting sites) and preside over any meeting at which the president is unable to be present. The Secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings and post a copy of these minutes for all members. The Treasurer will receive all funds for the organization and keep up-to-date financial records available at all meetings. The Newsletter Editor/Communications person shall be responsible for organizing and publishing newsletter and any updates. The Hospitality Coordinator shall be responsible for set-up and clean-up of meeting facilities.

Membership

Membership shall be open to anyone interested in the art of basketry. The Membership Year shall be January – December of each year. Annual membership dues shall be set by the Executive Committee, presented to the general membership and adopted by a quorum of the general membership at the December meeting. Annual dues shall be reduced by one-half after July of each year. Dues are to be paid to the Treasurer at the first meeting of each fiscal year.

Meetings

Meetings shall be held the second Sunday of every even month beginning with February of each year. Quorum at the meetings shall consist of a majority of the members present (with a minimum of five members present). Robert's RULES OF ORDER, REVISED shall be observed at all meetings. Guest Teachers will present basket workshops. Guild workshop guidelines will be followed for each workshop.

Nominations and Elections

A nominating committee shall be appointed annually by the Executive Committee. The nominating committee shall select one or more nominees for each office. The nominees shall be members in good standing and willing to serve. One-half of the Executive Committee positions will be open for elections on alternating years. (One-half in even number years, one-half in odd number years.)

Amending By-Laws

Any member in good standing may present recommendation for changes to the By-Laws to the Executive Committee. The By-Laws may be amended by a quorum of the membership at the December meeting.
