Connecticut Senior Womens' Basketball is actively seeking players ages 50 and up. We play competitive 3-on-3 basketball: a half-court game with two 12-minute halves, using NCAA rules modified by the National Senior Games organization.
We currently field six teams:
- The High-Fives (ages 65-69), two-time National Senior Games Silver Medalists
- Connecticut Bouncers (ages 65-69), 2009 National Bronze Medalists
- Connecticut Sisters (ages 55-59), two-time National Senior Games Silver Medalists
- Connecticut Classics (ages 50-54)
- Connecticut Sirens (ages 60-64)
- Connecticut Sneakers (ages 50-54)
Competitions in which we participate include the National Senior Games and the Summer Senior Games in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Maine. In addition, some or all of our teams participate in open tournaments in Connecticut, Maine, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, and Utah.
Our aim is to recruit additional players to fill out our current rosters and if necessary, to create more teams to accommodate anyone who wishes to play competitively. Previous hoops experience is desirable but not necessary. Come and try us out!
OUR WISH LIST:
- Our 55-59 Sisters team is seeking an experienced post player who will be at least 60 in 2010.
- Our 50-54 Classics team is seeking experienced players
- Our soon-to-be-formed 55-59 Classics team is seeking an experienced post player, preferably born 1952-1954
For the winter/spring season, late September-June, our practice time is 6:30-9:00PM each Wednesday evening (in case of inclement weather, please go to nbc30 for school closing information). The practice location is the A.I. Prince Technical High School, 500 Brookfield St, Hartford, CT. Click here for directions to Prince Tech.
For late August-mid Sept 2009, practices will be held every Wednesday 6:30-9:00PM at the East Hartford Cultural and Community Center in East Hartford CT. Click here for directions to the EHCCC. There is a small fee (that can be paid on a per-practice basis) for the use of this AIR-CONDITIONED (!) facility.
