Instead of a surprise party for her thirtieth birthday, Cari's husband, Rich, gives her a dilapidated house in the city. Now she has to move from her small, quiet town to live in a house she does not want, to a place she would not even think of visiting. Her eccentric and intrusive neighbors welcome her immediately. Judy freely dispenses marital advice, but her marriage has its secrets. Edith and Bradley, middle-aged fraternal twins, are always looking for an excuse to use their power tools. Junior, "the entrepreneur," sells cotton candy and Christmas trees out of his rusted ice cream truck and dreams of becoming a millionaire, so he can give a better life to his infant son. Cari and Rich share the same dreams, but their methods of attaining them porpel them in opposite directions.
