Life in a Bag
I don't know about the rest of you, but I often hear people (mostly women) say,
"My whole life is in here," when referring to their handbag, backpack, or
whatever else they carry around.
So...here's your exercise:
The scenario:
You come across a tan Liz Claiborne bag that has been left behind. (Location
is of your choosing, but not essential to this exercise.) You open it up and
find these items:
*Leather wallet with driver's license, pictures of children, voter's
registration, ATM card
*hairbrush
*glucose tablets
*a pack of crackers
*a set of contact lenses and an eyeglass case
*an envelope with pictures of an old man, some taken in a hospital
*a plastic ziplock bag with mascara, lipstick, eye liner, powder
*tampons
*cigarette lighter
*a piece of paper with email addresses
*pens
*gum
*toothbrush and toothpaste and floss
*Baby lotion
*Victoria's Secret perfume
From these items, create a character sketch of the owner of the bag. Include
in your character sketch one conflict and/or motive. Use your imagination and
fill in whatever blanks you need to.
As always...have fun with it!
