I am a member of the Pro-Choice caucus and wrote this when seeking their endorsement, "Let me tell you a little bit about why I think I deserve the caucus's endorsement. I am a strong supporter of a womyn's right to choose. Abortions should be safe, rare, and legal. However, they always need to be an option. As governor, I will work to end abortions by eliminating the cause of the abortions, not the right to choose.
We need to teach safe sex in our schools, give mothers options and support, but in the end, the choice must be theirs, not ours. I will protect the mother's privacy in whatever she chooses to do. Ohio is considering forcing 3 days of counseling before allowing a womyn to have an abortion. I oppose such a law and will veto it, if it were to come to my desk."
