I learnt a lot from looking back at these first tutorials. Thankyou to Prof and Charith!
I played a lot and here are some of my results.
From this image of the Northern lights, I made a small selection. I then applied Gaussian noise, 60%. Next I went to the sculpture effect and applied the preset "icy".
I then made it seamless and got this result on the right.
As I wanted the main body of the page to be lighter, and smoother, I used effects/texture/texture effects/mosaic glass,to smooth the tile. Then I added a new raster layer and flood filled this with white. I lowered the transparency to 60. Then I made my border image and here it is on this page.
Next I used an image of beech leaves with ice, made a small selection, (top left) and then used the method 'flip and mirror' to get a seamless tile. (top right). Next I used the kaleidoscope setting with 4 petals, wrap, everything else 0. (left bottom). Starting again with the seamless tile I used reflection effects/pattern with settings cols 3, rows 3 and angle of rotation 90. (bottom right).

On the pattern tile I again added a new layer, flood filled with white and lowered the transparency to 60. Then for yet another border background, I used the Kaleidoscope pattern and the paler rows and columns pattern. You can see the result on page 3.
