| Nuthin' Fancy Cafe - "Home cooking without the Mess" This is one of our favorite Restaurants in Roswell and also from most "Roswellites". It offers a very cozy atmosphere and you get to choose from a nice variety of "Alien", American and Mexican home style menu items. When I am thinking "healthy", I love their Calipita (pita bread with turkey, cheese, alfalfa sprouts and avocado). When I like to go "wild" I enjoy the U.F.O.-Burger (an open-faced Bacon-Burger with Avocado and mushrooms). If you like Catfish you have to try their delicious blackened Catfisch. On Sundays they used to have "all you can eat"-Catfish. I guess too many took advantage of it, so they don't offer that anymore *sigh*. Of course, I will point out the newest menu-item: Presidents ribs! When our President was in town (January, 2004) talking about the "War on Terror" at the Civic Center, he stopped by to the delight of the owner and customers and had some ribs. He probably new Nuthin' Fancy from earlier years, when he stopped in Roswell driving from Midland to Ruidoso. Wonder if Willie Nelson will be the next VIP in summer?! Adress: 2103 N Main St, Roswell 88201 Hours: 6 am - 9 pm daily Tel.: (505) 623-4098 |

| OOY'S Express - Thai B.B.Q. Restaurant Thank you, thank you, thank you... we got a Thai-Restaurant in town. You know it is really silly... I, as a German, am missing my Thai-Restaurant and my friend Ananya from Wiesbaden's Thai-Orchid more then anything else in Germany (besides my friends and family of course). So I was giddy with delight finding OOy's Express! It is a small, but clean Thai-Diner. I think it thrives mostly of the carry-out for the nearby offices. There food is great! I did not yet make friends with the owner and cook (heck, I want to be adopted by them *lol*). If you care for original Thai-Food, you have to come here. I only wished they would have a more stylish Restaurant for dinner, a liquor license for my favorite "Mai Tai"-Cocktail and a bigger menu with my favorite "Pla rad prig sam ross" (Fish in Chili), not to forget my "Tord man gai"-Appetizer (little spicy chicken-patties). But the good news is: They got my favorite Tom Kha Gai (Chicken and Coconut-Stew - they call it soup and without the rice, it would), yummy Thai egg rolls and a lot more... just not enough for me... because I am addicted to the Thai-kitchen! Adress: 1000 W. Hobbs, Roswell 88201 Hours: 11 am - 8 pm Monday thru Friday (not Holidays) Tel.: (505) 624-2040 |
