| Pepper's Grill & Bar - Wonderful atmosphere, great Food (I love their Quesadillas, Steaks, Hamburgers and Fajita's - though of course not as good as Davids) with a huge selection of American and Mexican specialties. The Service is outstanding. You are very close to the Museums and shops. Easy to walk everywhere, even in the heat of the summer. If you want to have a fun time and meet the locals of Roswell in an relaxed atmosphere, this is the place to come on a Friday or Saturday night. In the summer they have also live music on their cute Patio. Their Lounge is really comfortable with a great selection of Drinks and the best Margaritas in town. | Little Valley Bar & Grill - This little Saloon is not in Roswell but in the village of Dexter, 20 minutes outside of Roswell (18 miles Southeast of Roswell on Highway 2). The best-kept-secret! This restaurant comes as close to a Saloon as you can find. The cowboys from the nearby ranches come here for lunch as well as workhands and workers from the area. They offer a great variety of Sandwiches and Burgers as well as Steaks as fresh as you can imagine. Saturdays they have a BBQ ... the small plate is enough to feed 3 people. This food is made for hardworking men! My favorite is the Bacon Cheese Burger with fries (curly fries - if you are lucky, they have the oil hot enough, so they aren't too greasy). I usually can manage only half of my portion and David gets the other half the next day for lunch. Davids favorite is the Queso-Burger... smothered in cheese sauce with green chili and in the middle they place a crunchy taco-chip. Their bar is well equipped with all kinds of beers. I have not yet tried their Margaritas, but our neighbour in Roswell told me they are really good. In every meal is a bowl of soup included. Two huge Slowcookers are put up just on the side of the kitchen. Do not miss this!!!! They have the best soups in the world - I mean it. But their Green-Chili-Stew is our favorite - just mouthwatering. Only negative: If you are too early there (like 10.30 a.m.) they try to get rid of you fast and do not care if you come back... I guess they have so many local customers they do not need to be polite. If you are a visitor from out of town or even state you have to be very patient. The waitresses take care of their regulars first. I can't count how often Dave had to get up to get some more water or beer. Adress: 107 South Lincoln Avenue, Dexter, NM 88203 Tel.: (575) 734-9927 |
