Holland Hotel Restaurant - Page 2
In 2003 the restaurant had a different chef who was really a 5-Star-Chef. The dishes were refined and highest quality, arranged to please the eye. The tables had first class silverware (for every course its own set), linen tablecloth and napkins, water glass and wine glasses sparkling on the table. You chose from a leather-bond menu. I gave the Restaurant 5 Stars.

I describe all this, because there has been this year a slight change. The kitchen is now under the good management of the owners of the little Bread and Breakfast Restaurant (just to the left of the Holland hotel). This changed the service in a funny way.

For lunch you order from a paper-menu at the cashier-table at the front instead of getting seated. You get a card with a number; you have to place on your table, just as in a Fast Food Restaurant. As your waiter did not get your order, mistakes happen and menu-specifics have been forgotten. Example: David ordered Jalapeos with his cheeseburger and both of us wanted mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise. None of it arrived with our order and we had to wait for it.

For lunch and dinner you have a knife and fork wrapped in a paper napkin and the presentation of your meal is as in any average restaurant.

Now to the good news: The food may not look as attractive, but the quality and quantity is just as good, if not better. The cheeseburgers were the best (even slightly cold), we had in a long time. For dinner we got seated (without numbers and confusion). David had his favorite meal: Yes, Chicken Fried Steak. and the quality was excellent. I had my favorite as well: Catfish the best I ever had!!! It was not breaded, but grilled in an awesome seasoning on a bed of rice. The dinner comes with fresh baked buns and a side salad. Everything looks like in any other restaurant, but the flavor and consistency is up with the finest.

During the lunch and dinner Ron, one of the owners, checks on his guests and makes you feel really welcome.
