Thoughts
about the White Road... by
Gerrie
This
article is not really related to any catholic matters, but it was
performed by one of the members of our community, Candice, and I
thought it would be nice to put a poem of afterthoughts after watching
the play, to let the rest of the community in on this wonderful
performance.
The White
Road
SRT Theatrette
Singapore Repertory Theatre
21 July 2001
Arrived
early
Parked the car
Collected the tickets
Dawdled
Bathed
in the ambience
Made small talk
Seven sips after
Queued
Jostled
and shoved
Squinted and glared
Found the seats
Sat
Played
throw and catch
With tittle-tattle
In freezing temperatures
Waited
'Ladees
and gentlemen, the SRT's Young Theatre Company is proud to present
"The White Road"
'
Ssshhhh
Tumble
and turn
Pound and stomp
Fumble mumble rumble
Screech
and crow
Bodies roll
Arms flailing and arms akimbo
Foxes
run and hunters chase
Babies born and mothers fazed
Hearts thumped
Stop!
A ray
of light
From a shattered mirror
For an Indian monk
Hope
A couple
to wed
Tales to tell
Frightful dreams
Ding!
Chambers of horror
Heads all over
Lovely wife-to-be
Killed
Life's
ironies
A Grimm's fairy tale
In matter of minutes
Told
Upon the
audience
A striking effect
Of physical mastery
Unleashed.
Though
story undone
The journey long
All but one must be
Traveled
The White
Road
