SAR MISSON #2 - HELL'S CANYON
Attention Deer Valley SAR Pilots! The DV Rescue Association has been contacted by the CIA, the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security. They are requesting volunteers to fly a mission in defense of our great nation.

Intelligence reports gathered from numerous sources indicate that a terrorist group known as the "Martyr's Brigade"  is planning an attack on the city of Las Vegas Nevada, Nellis Air Force Base, and  the top secret highly controversial "nonexistant" Area 51 facilities at Groom Lake. In order to achieve their goals the Brigade  has infiltrated the "Hell's Canyons" area of the Tonopah Test Range.

The Tonopah Test Range (TTR) is a 525 square mile area (625 square miles according to new information...it apparently expanded) located at the very north end of the Nellis Complex, about 32 miles southeast of Tonopah, Nevada.
First opened in 1957, it has been a major test facility for DOE funded weapon programs. The sprawling facility is heavily instrumented with camera and radar tracking devices that record data from artillery shell testing, bomb drops, cruise missiles and rocket tests. In 1984, TTR also became host to the first F117 Stealth fighter squadron.

The Brigade has set up a base of operations somewhere in the miles of labryntine canyons north of the TTR airfield, where they have set up a battery of Mobile Missile Launchers. These MML's are targeted on the Nellis Base itself, and on the Groom Lake facility.

Nellis AFB, an integral part of the United States Air Force's Air Combat Command (ACC), is known as the "Home of the Fighter Pilot." It is the Mecca of advanced air combat aviation training. The base's all-encompassing mission is accomplished through an array of aircraft: A-10, F- 15C, F- 15E, F16, RQ-1A Predator UAV, and HH-60 helicopters.

Area 51, also known as Groom Lake, is a secret military facility about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. The number refers to a 6-by-10-mile block of land, at the center of which is a large air base the government will not discuss. The site was selected in the mid-1950s for testing of the U-2 spyplane, due to its remoteness, proximity to existing facilities and presence of a dry lake bed for landings. Groom Lake is America's traditional testing ground for "black budget" aircraft before they are publicly acknowledged. Forty-four years after it was created, Groom Lake has hosted flight testing of the aforementioned Lockheed U-2, the SR-71 Blackbird, the F-117 stealth fighter, Northrop's B-2 stealth bomber, the mysterious Aurora Project, and possibly even alien spacecraft.

Las Vegas is a major tourist attraction, a major city of the USA, and would be a devestating blow to American morale.
By attacking Nellis, the Brigade intends to disrupt America's defense training, and throw our military in disarray. The attack on Groom Lake is a "long shot" attempt to destroy rumoured alien technology and release unknown and possibly lethal contaminants into the air, turning it into America's Chernobyl.

The CIA attempted to infiltrate a sleeper agent into the Brigade, but communications with the agent have ceased. Last reports indicate that his cover has been blown, and he is now a prisoner somewhere on the Brigade's base.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, comes in 5 parts.

Part 1:
You will pilot a General Dynamics WB-57F High Altitude Photo Recon Plane over the Hell's Canyon area and map the canyons for search.
The WB-57F is now on standby at Luke AFB. You will fly from Luke to the Tonopah Test Range airfield (TNX), then turn north and fly over the canyons at an altitude of 50,000' for your mapping run. Once clear of the canyons, you will circle east to descend, and land at Nellis AFB (KLSV). Once at Nellis, you will turn your film over to CIA agents there, and standby for further orders. To turn over your film, there will be a post on the SAR MISSIONS Forum titled SAR CIA HQ. Post your screenshot here, and you will recieve your instructions on this forum.

Part 2:
After close examination of the recon photos, the CIA will clear you for search operations in the Canyons. In an attempt to disguise the search as normal training operations, you will be piloting a USAF Cessna 337 O-2 Skymaster, now on standby at Nellis for your use. Your orders will be to search the Canyons, locate the Brigade base, and photograph it in preperation for an assault. Once the base is located and your photo's are taken, return to Nellis and turn over your film to the CIA operatives. You will then stand by for further orders. To turn over your film, there will be a post on the SAR MISSIONS Forum titled MISSION 2 CIA HQ. Post your screenshot here, and you will recieve your instructions on this forum.

Part 3:
After evaluation of  the close in photos of the base by the CIA you will be sent on a covert mission to recover their captive operative.
You will pilot the USAF Cessa 337 O-2 Skymaster over the brigade base. Once over the base, you will turn the aircraft over to your co-pilot, don your jetpack, and skydive into the canyon. Using your jetpack you will land at the location pinpointed by the CIA where the operative is being held, and release him.  You will then attempt to steal the Brigade's Kingair 350, and perform a low altitude exit from the Base. You must fly below 100' AGL to avoid being targeted by the Brigade's SAM missiles or they will shoot you down! Upon clearing the Brigade base, climb out of the canyons and return to Nellis. Fly as fast as you can, because as soon as you make your escape the Brigage will begin fueling and arming procedures on the missiles, as they will know a strike on their base is soon to follow! Land at Nellis, and prepare for your role in the strike phase of the operation.

Part 4:
You will pilot the transport aircraft to deliver the strike force to the Brigade's Base. The aircraft will be the Douglas DC-3. You will fly over the location of the base, dropping a paratroop assault force on the base. You will then return to Nellis and pick up decontamination equipment which will be used by the strike force to disarm the missiles. Fly to and enter the canyons, land at the former Brigade base, and deliver the equipment. Standby while the strike team disarms the missiles and places explosives on them to destroy them. Once the team is finished, they will board your DC-3 for transport back to Nellis. Once airborne and at a safe distance, the strike force commander will detonate the explosives, destroying the missiles and the base. Land back at Nellis to deliver the assault force.

Part 5:
Return the WB-57F to Luke AFB to end this mission.

I hope you enjoy flying this mission as much as I enjoyed creating it for you!
