SAR001 - Arizona Wildfires
This is my version of the Willow Wildfire. At the time I started creating this scenery it was burning 6 miles SW of Payson Arizona. It may have moved some since then, but will still be in the same general area. This scenery wound up being approx. 8 miles SW of Payson. I make no claim to accuracy with this scenery, as it is made for fun, not realism.

Mission Briefing:
The Arizona Dept. of Emergency Management (ADEM) has put out a call for help in fighting the Willow Wildfire, burning approximately 8 miles SW of Payson, Arizona. Numerous teams of Smoke Jumpers (forest firefighters that parachute into fire areas) are responding to the area, and need immediate transportation to the fire area.

3 teams of Smoke Jumpers are currently awaiting tranportation, one at Phoenix Deer Valley Airport (KDVT), one at Flagstaff Pulliam (KFLG) and one at ST John's Industrial (KSJN) . Using your trusty Douglas DC-3, transport the teams to the fire. ADEM requests that once you have transported all of your teams, you land at Payson Airfield (KPAN) and assist in fighting the fire by piloting one of the water bomber aircraft on standby there. This is a large fire burning out of control, so they need all the help they can get. Make at least 5 trips to deliver water on the fire. After each trip, you will need to land and reload your water tank, then return to the fire for the next delivery. Unfortunately, fighting this fire has drained the water resources of Payson, so you will not be able to reload there.  You have 2 options.
Back over the ridge approximately 12.5 miles to the west of the fire is a small creek. You can land at this creek, throw your hose in, and fill your tank here. The ground here is rough and very uneven, so will put your short field landing skills to the test.
Approximately 27 miles SSE from the fire there is a large lake. The ground here is flatter than the creek, especially around the shoreline. You can land along the shore and fill up there.
Or, if short field landings on uneven terrain are not your cup of tea, approximately 26 miles east of the fire is Pleasant Valley Airstrip (24AZ). Their water resources are untouched at this time, and they will allow any firefighting aircraft to land and fill up there.

You MAY also be called upon to locate and rescue any of the Smoke Jumpers that get injured or cut off behind the fire line, so stay tuned for further Emergency Alert messages.

If you do not have any aircraft in your hanger currently able to function as a water bomber, here are a couple suggestions.

for helos, The Erickson Skycrane or Sikorsky Firehawk, available at www.hovercontrol.com.

For fixed wing, I have made a package available at the mission download site with effects and aircraft .cfg files that turn both of the default Cessna Caravan aircraft into capable water bombers.
