Crossroads to Jericho

8 1/2 inch finished

Colors

Use bright colors or jewel tones when choosing your fabric.  If you have scraps of bright color strips this is a good place to use them as long as you also have enough for the matching square.

1.       Choose four bright colors.  If you plan to make more than 1 block you can use 4 or more colors.

2.      Choose an off white or beige tone on tone fabric.

Cut -

1 – 2 1/2 inch strips from each bright fabric.

5 - 2 ½ inch strips from the off white.

1  - 5 1/8 square from each of the bright fabrics.  Cut these in half diagonally to create two triangles.

Piece

1.      Strip piece one bright fabric between two muslin strips.

2.      Repeat step 1 with a different bright strip.

3.      Strip piece the last muslin strip between the last two bright strips.

4.      Iron the strip sets so that you will have opposing seams when you assemble you nine patch.

5.      Cut the strips sets into 2 ½ inches pieces.

6.      Assemble as a nine patch with a muslin square in each of the 4 corners and a different bright color in each of the other 4 patches.

7.      Sew a matching bright triangle to two opposing sides.  The triangle must match the bright fabric on that side of the nine patch.

8.      Sew a matching bright triangle to the other two opposing sides.

Note - These cutting and assembly of these blocks make it easy to make more than one block.  Increase your chances of winning the blocks by making more than one.

The bias on the triangles will end up on the inside of the block.  The outside of the block will be on the straight of grain.
