Wm Soost, son of Fred and Otto Swanson were in Sioux City the last of the week and purchased a new 40 Overland Auto Car.
Mr. F. J. Clark has bought a lot of J. H. Ashby, just south of the Christian Church. Mr. Clark will commence the erection of a new dwelling on the same next week.

The Magnet State Bank building has been sold to Ernest Halleen who will move it on his vacant lot just west of his meat market, he will use it for a cream station. The other building used by Mr. Woolston for a dwelling has been moved onto a vacant lot east of the Ed Snygg residence. The material for a new brick bank building is being unloaded on the ground and as soon as the old building has been moved the new one will be started, which will be a structure that our town will be proud of.

PETERS - PETTIT Thursday morning, July 18, 1912, at the Wayne county court house, by Judge James Britton, Mr. Samuel Pettit and Miss Lizzie Peters were united in marriage. The bride and groom came from their home at Magnet, accompanied by Mr. Cecil Coop and Miss Lillian Bauders best man and bridesmaid. The latter couple returned to Magnet on the morning train, but bride and groom remained at Wayne until the afternoon, when they continued their journey to Sioux City, where they will remain a few days before returning to their home duties. Mr. Pettit is an industrious young farmer who tired of keeping bach[e]lor hall, and the bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Peters. May happiness attend them.

The father of Georgie Stout came in on the train Monday evening from Missouri for a short visit with his son.
Dr. Tellotson, of Wynot, was here the first of the week a guest of the W. J. Ostrander home. Mr. Tellotson has a brother who is also a guest at the same home, and has been quite sick the past few days and the Dr. is administering to his needs in a medical way. This office acknowledges a pleasant call from the Dr. and Mr. Ostrander on Wednesday morning.

The new electric light plant is being installed in the basement of the P. J. Sandberg cement block building. We predict a better light system when the new plant is in operation.
A threshing machine shipped from Wayne was unloaded here Tuesday for the Dryer Bros. who live ten miles north of here.
August 29, page "2" col 5Mr. C. J. Peters called at this office a few days ago and informed us that Mrs. Peters was in a fair way to recovery. He said that she might be able to come home next week.
Fred and Louis Leckler each filed on a half section of Uncle Sam's desert land in north east Colorado, about 25 miles from Sterling. Greg Sherer bought a relinquishment, with some improvements. They seem to think they can make it out there if other people can and we guess they can, at least we wish them all kinds of good luck in their new venture.
Martin Olson is back in the hospital at Sioux City, he having suffered a relapse. It is hoped that he will soon fully recover.
August 29, page "2" col 6A. E. Mainquist had a car of fat hogs on the Sioux City market Wednesday.
A deal was consum[m]ated Tuesday whereby Jim Ward came into possession of the Mrs. S. T. Black property, of 15 acres laying just west of town, and Mrs. Black bought the Frank Runyon residence property, for a consideration of twelve hundred dollars. We did not learn what she got for her place. Mr. Runyon is planning on a homestead out in the west somewhere.

On Saturday morning August 31st. 1912, a bright little baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Snygg. [This child's name was Edward Woolston Snygg a.k.a. "Ned".] Ross Dodson took the early train Monday at McLean for Walthill, where he will assist his father in the meat market until his father gets relief from troubles of a physical nature.
Martin Olson, who has been confined in a hospital at Sioux City for the past few months came home Friday.

Mr. Clousen has been in California for the past two years, and is looking quite rugged for one of his age. He came from Weiser City, Idaho, here where he had spent a few weeks with a daughter. As we stated elsewhere, in these columns, Charley Bently was called to Lovington Ill. on account of the serious illness of his mother. When Mr. Bently arrived at his destination he found that his mother had passed away a few hours before, she had been a very patient sufferer for a number of years with that dreadful disease cancer. He returned home Monday evening. It is an old saying that our dearest friend on earth is mother, but when we reflect they too will pass away.
