This year's Sports Day [ our 17th ] was held on the morning of April 14th. Everyone was really excited about the event as we'd been practising and training hard for weeks.

The school field was abuzz with activity as early as 7:30 am. Even the kampung folk were out in full force, adding to the fun and laughter.

At 8:00 am sharp, our guest of  honour, the MP for Sugai Lembing, YB Tuan Hj Md Sohaimi bin Haji Mohamed Shah AMP., and his entourage made a grand entrance.

They were welcomed by our principal, Puan Hajah Meriam Bt. Haji Samah to the beat of a kompang group.

Next on the agenda was the march past , ably led by Mohd. Fauzi; a form 4 student. Participating in the march past were the Red Crescent Society, Scouts, Rangers, Puteri Islam and Army Cadets.

Athletes from all four houses, namely Mahmud [ Red ], Muhammad [ Yellow ],
Abdul Razak [ Blue ] and Abdullah [ Green ] joined in to make it a truly colourful affair.

Then came our principal's speech, in which she thanked everyone for working so very hard to make the event a success.

This was followed by the Sugai Lembing MP's speech, in which he declared the event officially open. This proclamation was followed by thunderous applause and cheers from all present.

The official flag was then raised, and the Athletes' Oath read out loud and clear by
Che Mohd. Afizan. He was later to be crowned Best Male Athlete of the meet.

Next, good ol' Ustaz Shafei b Mohd Hasin led us in a short prayer, asking The Lord to watch over the morning's activities.

This was followed by a breathtaking marching drill by the Army Cadets, by far the most impressive of the uniformed units. Kudos to En Zaidi b Bidin for a job well done.

With all the formalities taken care of, athletes got down to business at 8:30 am, competing in the high jump, shot putt, discus throw, long jump and track events.

The tug - of - war  final between Blue House and Yellow House was a thriller, and after a long struggle, the Yellow behemoths triumphed.

A special event , the 'Slowest Motorcycle Race' was held for our guests, and the dashing young men of Bukit Goh wasted no time in signing up. What a 'race' it was!

Sporting events ended at 11:30 am with Blue House emerging champs for the first time, much to the dismay of Red House, who came out tops last year.

Green House settled for 3rd place and poor Yellow House* ended up at the bottom of the heap.  * [ At least they won the tug - of - war, so stop smirking! ]

The day's proceedings were officially closed at 12:00 noon and our guests made their way home. Now came the toughest part, cleaning up the mess left behind.

However, in the true spirit of togetherness and cooperation, we had the place spick and span in no time at all.
