The staff and students of SMK Bukit Goh celebrated Maulidur Rasul on Friday, June 8  2001, at the school's assembly square. The celebrations were held to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

At 8:15 am, right after our weekly assembly, our Principal delivered a short speech advising us to pay attention to the sermon that was forthcoming. The sermon was to be delivered by an invited speaker, Ustaz Mahmud Mat [ a lecturer at IKIP 5, Kuantan ].

Ustaz Mahmud's sermon was truly a revelation, and had us mesmerized. Why, even the naughtier ones among us paid attention, and some students were seen taking notes.

The good Ustaz talked about the significance of the birth of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. He also advised us to be faithful to the teachings of Islam, and strive for success.

After he had finished his sermon, our Principal presented him a small souvenir as a token of our appreciation and gratitude.

Then it was time for another sermon [ a rather short one ] by our own Ustaz Zakeria b Suboh, Head of the Humanities Department.

The highlight of the morning was the mass recitation of selawat, or rhymes in honour of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w., led by the nasyid group called ABAD [ made up of 4AB and 4AD students ].

It was soon time for the closing prayer, led by Ustaz Zakeria. At 9:30 am, the morning's proceedings came to a close and we trudged back to our classes, a little bit wiser; I hope.
