• Rasulullah had been trained, from an early age, to value time; in as much as he had to help his foster family with their livestock and at the same time master the Arabic language
• Rasulullah valued knowledge and once asked about the difference between a puppy and a mature dog. This question was satisfactorily answered by a wise non - Muslim. The next time they met, Rasulullah was seated, but rose out of respect for the learned man
• Knowledge must be blessed, and this can be achieved by
  - studying diligently
  - respecting teachers
  - honouring parents' wishes to see their children succeed in life
• Seeking knowledge is a must for all Muslims, even students
• Good and bad deeds will be taken into account in determining whether one ends up in heaven or hell
