Use your browser's BACK button to return to this pagespacer This year's Bahasa Melayu Week was held from May 21 to 25, and it involved a number of interesting competitions.
Competitions were held in the school hall from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Participants competed in events such as dramas, sketches, poetry reading and berbalas pantun.
Students from Forms One to Five took part in the competitions, and all our teachers, including the Principal herself, found the time to be there with us.
As Malay Literature [ KOMSAS ] has just been introduced to SMK Bukit Goh students, participants were encouraged to make full use of the books provided under the KOMSAS program; and come up with suitable themes for their performances.
It pleases us to report that the organisers and participants showed a great level of commitment and teamwork, a positive sign indeed.
There were dramas and sketches that had us laughing away, and then there were heartfelt poetry recitations that had us listening attentively; in complete silence.
Teachers from the Bahasa Melayu Panel acted as judges throughout the week's competitions, and did a fine job, might we add.
In conclusion, this year's Bahasa Melayu Week was a complete success. The activities were particularly effective in promoting the use of proper Bahasa Melayu among our students, many of whom prefer to speak in slang or local dialects.
Bahasa Melayu is a beautiful language, and we hope that the annual Bahasa Melayu Week will open students' eyes to the wonders of their mother tongue.
