Another shift another window...

Well today the weather is nice
the City has been Quiet
and the Highlight of my day Once again...
Climbing through a window to reach a patient.

This time though it was an actual window,
we opened it and it did not break.

We were called to the home of an elderly female who was possibly having a stroke.
we were called by her doctor
who said that she called him to schedule an appointment
But she had slurred speach and was "not right".
Her physical complaints were
Tingling and weakness on her left side
which Could be a sign of stroke.

He called for us to take her in to the hospital.
one catch...she is in bed,
her door is locked and
there's no key hidden outside.

So after walking the perimeter of the home several times
trying to find some way in that doesn't involve property damage.

Our dispatcher is able to reach her on the phone.
the pt. can hear us outside and she tells the dispatcher
that she believes the bedroom window is un-locked.
we make our way around to this window
We are able to get it open.
I was able to climb through
after I was in the house I opened the door
for my partner to come in.

We were able to Treat the patient
and transport her to the hospital
where she was admitted for further care.

Is this the begining of a new trend?
When Behner comes on to the shift next week
I will still be the "smallest" guy on the shift.
(Shortest,Thinnest,Lightest...Ha! trust me I am not that small)
Am I going to be the one
who has to try to crawl into the pt. from now on?

Scary thought.

Good Night.
