The weather has been the highlight of the past few shifts. This is one is no exception.
The call volume has been pleasently reduced and I guess it might have something to do with the weather.
I have only had four or five calls today.
To be honest I could use a little excitement. Not that I wish any ill will on any one. But Stupid people do stupid things! that is what keeps us in bussiness. It's ok with me if they do it an A shift.
It's mondy and that means the weekly training meeting is happening at E.T.F.D. sometimes if we are not busy Herb allows Brian and I to switch over into 93 and attend the meting.
This week's meeting was administrative. We discussed matters of the Emergency association, including reimbursing me for Purchasing a "Smoke Generator" Which I was able to purchase at a great discount from an audio/visual company in Cleveland who I have Contacts with from my "previous life" this will be a good training tool.
It is truly amazing how disorienting it is to be in a smoke filled room. maybe this will help the firefighters think and not panic when it comes time to leave a fire as you are running low on air. I had my panic and distress leavig the fire in january, I was running low on air and was on the second floor. So I leave and make my way to the front door, half way there I fell through a hole in the floor! I was stuck, both legs up to the knees making me breathe harder and causing me to run even lower on air. After I was pulled from the hole I made my way toward the door but there was such thick smoke I couldn't find it...
There I was standing in the doorway yelling wheres the door?! maybe this smoke machine will stop that from happening again...
After the meeting it was Back to work. Something Interestin has been put in place at station one... now 92 is on for twelve hours during the day instead of just eight. then four hours of two trucks. A fresh crew comes in for the night truck at midnight thirty. this does make the work load lighter. This could be why I we have a reduced run volume. but I prefer to say it is the weather
Not much as for calls during the night. only three total.
But when I woke up for shift change it was 59 degrees. I was in a great mood and was looking forward to riding the motorcycke all day.
Maybe next "A" will be busy and I will complain about that too.
but for now...
Good night
