Ahhh Spring...

Finally, Officially and nearly as Pleasent as one can expect.
The first "A" of spring brought with it...
Car crash upon Car crash to the City of Elyria.
And in the style that I have come to know and loathe
People make the biggest deal of little things...
When they are not at fault!

I would wager that if a clinical study were conducted by E.M.S. providers and insurance companies the findings would reveal...  the top cause of injury in motor vehicle crashes
under thirty-five miles per hour is...
"This was Not My Fault"
Pain and injury Claimed by one party
just because the other party is to blame...

Not that this is completely un-justified...
pain is pain after all
and no one can tell
you That you are not feeling pain.

I was struck by this "pain" idea when I was in scene of a low speed crash where a ford probe struck a honda mini-van.

The mini-van was Purchased the day before the crash...
That was probably the most painful part for that driver.

The ford was Ten years old
but the driver took great care of her car...
The pain of seeing your car wrecked when you have cared enough to wash it and keep it nice must be quite awful...

I have never placed a high value on my possessions until recently and only now at this point in my life can I understand the Grief they were feeling at the loss of "property"

Materialism
Scares me

I wish that it didn't matter...
but this is why E.M.S. is an under appreciated
and under-compensated field of expertise.

It is a sick sad world we live in...
Where people will ignore real injury,
benefit from the pain of others
or
live a life style that will kill them.

They will do all kinds of silly stuff
All in the name of Fun or money...

Then
expect someone to be there to pick up the pieces
when it goes sour...
And yet,
most of them will not be willing to pay the Piper.

But Please don't give up on them...
They Need us.

Good Night.
