We are looking for a few good men...
for the Confederate States Marine Corps.   As a Civil War re-enactment group patterned after the Confederate Marines, we are looking for recruits in the western Washington area of operations.  Members will participate in battle re-enactments, living history events, encampments and live-fire matches using period weapons, uniforms and equipments.  Positions are available as sharpshooters, gun crews and ship's detachments.

I will attempt to edit and update this page weekly, and answer any email that I receive.  Please put the term Marines in the subject line, as it is my habit not to open mail from unknown sources or subject lines.
If you are interested in learning more about the Confederate State Marine Corps, the best source is Ralph W. Donnelly's Rebel Leathernecks: The Confederate States Marine Corps (ISBN: 0-942597-13-3).
Other outstanding sites and links are: (In the way of a disclaimer, this is just my personal opinion that these are outstanding sites.   I have literally hundreds of them in my  Favorites folders, but these are just some that I consistently visit in my quest to learn and understand this era of our nations history. If you know of some that you think I might find interesting, please e-mail me, as I would like to take a look).   I will also be adding links as we go, so please be patient.
www.csnavy.org, which is home-ported out of Mobile, and will be of special interest if you had an ancestor that was in the Confederate Navy or Marines, as they are always looking for information about former CSN or CSMC personnel and commands. They are especially interested in burial locations, drawings, or photographs.
www.civilwar.org is the home page of the Civil War Preservation Trust, which works to preserve our nations heritage by preserving Civil War sites and battlefields.
www.cwc.lsu.edu/ is an outstanding site for anyone who is interested in doing research or is just interested in learning more about the Civil War.  A truly outstanding site with thousands of potential links.  Another great site for research, especially if your interest is first person accounts, is at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill's Documenting the American South at/docsouth.unc.edu/index.html>
www.itd.nps.gov/cwss is a site dedicated to Civil War Soldiers and Sailors, plus there are numerous links to their battlefield sites.
www.wcwa.net is a site dedicated to the Washington Civil War Association, with whom we are affiliated.
As re-enactors, we are dedicated to honoring the memories of those who lived during or fought in the American Civil War, both Union and Confederate.
This page is my first attempt at putting something on the Internet, and I will attempt to update the page and read any email that you send me at least once per week.   I have an open mind, however, I do not support any political causes or stands, and I do not appreciate foul language (as Mr. Edwin Newman once said, to paraphrase one of my favorite lines...';foul language is a linguistic crutch of an ignorant person who is too lazy to think of anything better to say."
Thanks for looking.
