P�l Vantara clinched his first ranking title and closed the gap between him and second ranked Ede Dunai, who had been suffering with his form for months. In the deciding frame of the final Dunai's poor break-off shot was answered by a splendid 53 break from Vantara, which was enough to decide the match.
The real surprise of the event was caused by Imre Nagy in the quarter-final, with his win against ranking list leader and this season's favourite Zolt�n Kojsza.
