PHILIPPE:
Belle and her father's trusted horse. Philippe is the one who lets Belle know that something has happened to her father. Philippe remains with Belle while she is held captive in the Beast's castle. Belle also risks her life to save Philippe from the pack of savage wolves. |
LE FOU:
He is Gaston's counterpart. His name literally means "The Fool." He is always trying to win some respect and praise from Gaston, even when Gaston is pushing him around. La Fou is a follower, and will do anything for Gaston. |
THE WOLVES:
These savage hunters are the ones who attacked Maurice (Belle's father), Belle, Philippe, and the Beast at different times during the movie. The wolves are the ones who at the begining drove Maurice to the "safety" of the Beast's castle to keep from being eaten by them. They also played an important role in bringing together Belle and the Beast after he saves her from them. | |
THE BOOK-SELLER:
He is the only one in her town that understands Belle's passion for books. He is very kind to her and possibly her only friend among the town's people. He also gives Belle her favorite book for free. What a guy! |
THE VILLAGERS:
They are common people who find Belle's interest in books and search for knowledge very strange. They are not mean to her but do gossip about her behind her back. They are not evil so I didn't put them in red, they are more misguided and ignorant. |
MAURICE:
Belle's cooky and inventive father. He loves Belle very much and is her best friend. Belle loves him to and would do anything for him, including taking his place as the Beast's prisioner. |
MONSIEUR D'ARQUE:
The evil old man who runs and owns an asylum. He is asked by Gaston for help in making Belle marry him. Arque threatens to put Maurice in his asylum so Gaston can jump in and offer to help if Belle agrees to marry him. Arque agrees to help Gaston in exchange for a large amount of money. He is very greedy and corrupt. |
THE THREE GIRLS:
These three blondes are cazy over Gaston. They sigh when ever he is around and are basically obsessed with him. They don't care about his personallity, just his dashing good looks. |
COGSWORTH:
This uptight clock was one of the servants in the Beast's castle. He always tried to keep order and do things by the book. He also never wanted to go against the wishes of his master, no matter how cruel or selfish they were. |
THE WARDORBE CLOSET:
This was the first animated servant that Belle met in the castle. She offered to help pick out something for Belle to wear to dinner and tryed to make her feel more comfortable. |
LUMIERE:
One of the most lovable servants. This charming candlestick is the total opposite of Cogsworth. He like to have fun and always do thing his way, no matter what his master would think about it. |
THE STOOL:
This cute little stool was once the lovable palace pup. He is very puppy like and goes around getting love and attention. |
THE DUSTER:
She was once one of the maids in the palace. She is flirtatious and is constantly pursued by Lumiere. |
MRS. POTTS and CHIP
This mother teapot and her son are both very charming. Mrs. Potts is the kindly old teapot who is very motherly to everyone in the palace, including the Beast. Chip is her son. He is the typical little boy, except for the fact that he has been changed into a tea cup. |
