Recently enacted California AB 1825 mandates that two hours of Sexual Harassment Prevention Training be provided to supervisors by businesses having 50 or more employees. For many years the U.S. Supreme Court has provided liability advantages to companies who train their workforce on this subject. For California employers the Fair Employment and Housing Act makes it a separate unlawful practice for an employer to "fail to take all reasonable steps to necessary to prevent discrimination and harassment from occurring" and requires employers to disseminate educational material to employees regarding sexual harassment law and company procedures.
