Location - Colombia is located in the southern and western hemispheres directly under the equator. It lies on the NW region of the South American continent. Its exact coordinates are 4 degrees, 35', 56'' N; 74 degrees, 4', 51'' W.
Place - Colombia's physical and climate. From rocky mountains to flatlands; from freezing temperatures to mild ones. The western side is mostly nothing but snowy mountains and lush valleys. The eastern side is generally flat jungle and farmland. In the NE part is nothing but tropical grassland called llanos.
Human-environmental interaction - Farmers take advantage of the climate and rich soil to grow coffee beans and banans for it is the perfect conditions for them. People living also abuse the rainforest. They poach many valuable animals and cut the jungle down to make way for farmland and grazing space.
Movement - The amount of movement of goods, people, and ideas takes place more in the westside of the country. This is because that side is mostly urban, cities are closer together, and more populous. This is not to say that nothing goes on in the eastern side. It just takes more time for ideas to travel because cities are smaller and more spaced apart.
Region - Since the western side of Colombia is mountainous most of the cities are in the valleys between them. This side of the country depends more on trading and business for income. The eastside depends mostly on agriculture and mining. Emerald mines which are located in the center towards the east produces about 90% of the world's emeralds.
