About 300 players competed in the 2004 Connecticut State Scholastic Championships held in Greenwich in January. 

 

The overall winner was 11^th grader Ian Harris, who edge out 7^th grader James Nitz.

 

The team championship was won for the 7^th consecutive year by West Haven High School.

 

The primary section was won by Michael Chiang with a 6-0 score.  He resides in Scarsdale, NY so he did not receive a state title.
