Present were Fred Townsend, Bob Milardo, Rick Bauer, Rich Jackson, Bob Musicant, Mary Conlon, Mike Zadorozny, Jim Celone, and Mike Stango.

Rick Bauer read the minutes from the last meeting. They were accepted as amended.

Bob Milardo gave the Treasurers’ report. The CSCA now has a positive balance of $3666, up from approximately $1600 a year ago.

Rick Bauer gave the website report. The transition has been made from webmaster Mike Bukovcik to co-webmasters Joe Mansigan and Rick Bauer. The address of the site is http//www.geocities.com/csca2001. It is listed with the USCF and Yahoo. Other search engines will be tested.

Fred Townsend reported on the 2001 State Open Championship. The number of players competing showed a strong increase to 69 total with 28 in the Open Section.

Mike Zadorozny reported on the 2001 State Scholastic Championship. The tournament attracted 350 players, a significant increase from a year ago. Mike incurred a financial loss due to high expenses. Software pairing problems and round delays marred the tournament for many participants. The reasons for these problems were discussed at length.

Rich Jackson was awarded the 2002 State Scholastic Championship, to be held on April 7-8, 2002. The tournament will be run along the same lines as the 1999 and 2000 State Scholastic Championships. A
written proposal will be submitted at a later date. Tournament scheduling conflicts with the NSCF will be addressed by Rich Jackson.

Bob Musicant gave the Scholastic Grant Report. The USCF has discontinued its SASP funding, but the positive cash balance will allow the CSCA to continue its grant program. $1000 was allocated for scholastic grants in the next year.

Jim Celone was elected Vice-president, Mary Conlon was elected Tournament Coordinator. Rick Bauer and Joe Mansigan were elected Webmasters. Mike Stango was elected Ombudsman.

A motion to repeal the CSCA life membership provision was defeated 6-1.

The next meeting will be scheduled for the Fall.
