E. ELEMENTARY     Grades 4-5.

K. KINDERGARTEN Grade K & pre-K.

SITE:  Parkway Elementary School, Lower Cross Road, Greenwich, CT.  Take the Merritt Parkway to Lake Avenue (exit 29 in CT).  Southbound, bear right

 to stop sign, turn left for 1.1 miles.  Turn right on to Lower Cross, school is on the left.  Northbound, go to stop sign, turn left 1.3 miles, turn right on to Lower 

Cross, school is on the left.

Chatsworth is at the intersection of Forest Park & Chatsworth Aves, two blocks from the Boston Post Road.  All of these tournaments are not USCF rated.  

PRIZES:  In Champ, Elem, and Prim, top 8 individuals, top 2 unrateds , and top 3 teams.

    In K/1, top 5 1st Grade Individuals, top 3 Kind individuals, top 1st grade team.

    K/1 is often a combined section when not enough entries enter into one of those

    sections.  All non-trophy winners in K/1 receive a medal..

ROUNDS/GAMES PLAYED:  Everyone will play 4 games except for 1 or 2 individuals who may play 3 games after receiving a one point bye (if odd number of 

participants in a section, one person receives a "victory" as chess is a two person game).  THE FIRST ROUND STARTS PROMPTLY AT 10:00 AM!  The time 

control for all sections is Game 30 (one hour total for each game).  After the first round, all subsequent rounds will be paired ASAP.  In the K/1 section(s), games 

will be adjudicated if it is clear that neither participant knows how to checkmate and the game is dragging on excessively.  The usual finish time for the older grades 

is between 2-2:30 pm.  For the K/1, between 12-1 pm.

If unable to arrive until after 10:00 am, ½ byes are available for the first two rounds.  So if you have a church function (or whatever to attend) between 10-11 am, you 

can still participate.  Call me at (203) 531-5741 in advance if you would like information on thisoption.  However, please note, NO PHONE ENTRIES ACCEPTED.

ENTRY FEE: $35 if postmarked no later that 12 days prior to the event.  Thereafter,  $45 in the mail and $50 at the door.  At site registration will be from 9-9:30 am.  

If you register by mail, you do not need to arrive at the site until 10 am.  Those who register at site will be paired against others who also registered at site.  Pairings
