ECO update instructions

Dear colleagues:

Thank you for updating the ECOs for which you are responsible.

For your reference, existing course documents (ECOs, course descriptions, and course change proposals) on file with the CSC Department Office can be viewed here:  http://www.csc.calpoly.edu/faculty/  (You may want to start with the link for the most recent year first.)

I would appreciate that you keep these in mind as you update your ECOs:

  1. Please be as thorough as possible.  There should be an answer to each question, even if it is "not applicable."

  2. You may find it helpful to reference a completed ECO sample here.

  3. In the "Estimate CSAB Category Content" table,  please provide an accurate estimation of the number of hours that you cover each category per quarter .  For example, if you estimate that over a quarter you spend 2 hours on Advanced Data Structure, then please put down a '2'.  Do not include laboratory hours.

  4. In the footer of the file for your ECO, please enter today's date as the  "Revised" date.  Do not set the date to auto-update.  (To change the footer, go to the 'View' tab, then 'Header and Footer", then switch to Footer to make the change.)

When you have completed your ECO(s), please  follow the algorithm below to upload the file(s) to a web-site that I have set up as a virtual staging area for collecting these documents.

Once you have successfully uploaded your files, I would appreciate receiving an email from you ([email protected])  to let me know which files have been uploaded.

Thanks --
    Mei-Ling Liu
