The stamp pictured above is a New York counterfeit of Scott #6. I see at least 2-3 per week on Ebay, offered as genuine. Although it is a good counterfeit, it can usually be detected from a scan. |

| This stamp is a genuine CSA #8, with fake cancels. There were no killers of that type used in the Confederacy, and certainly a "New York" cancel has no place on a CSA stamp. Since this stamp is more valuable used, fake cancels are commonly encountered. Used examples of this stamp should always be submitted for expertization. |
